Customer Review: Where’s the orchestra gone?
Anyone expecting the full James Last Orchestra sound giving his trademark big band treatment of the Mavericks’ biggest hit, or his string and choral section lushing through Crystal Gayle’s will be sorely disappointed by this album.
You can tell immediately, and the sleeve credits confirm it. Only four musicians were used for this “project”, recorded in 1998 while visiting the USA, - arrangements by James Last himself, Derek Watkins on solo trumpet, Erland Krauser on guitar, and Thom Eggert on keyboard and PROGRAMMING. In other words most of the music is computer generated, rather than Herr Last’s onetime superb orchestra actually playing. And it is so obvious.
Far better to go and buy one of the many available country & western compilations by the original artists than waste your cash on these watered-down imitations. Shame on you, Hansi.
